  • French Overview

The French curriculum begins each year with an introductory period of two months, after which classes are taught immersion style. The focus of the curriculum is to enrich the students’ experience of the spoken language by delving into the grammatical structures that reveal themselves as the forms that help give French its shape. Classwork continues to be speech-centered, whereas homework is more reading and writing intensive. Students who complete the upper school French curriculum are practiced in writing, simple-to-intermediate essays, reading intermediate literature and referring to nuances in time, conditions, and moods when describing and reflecting on their desires and experiences.
