The Academy's After School Program

  • Beyond the Classroom

    The Academy’s after-school program offers children many exciting opportunities for learning and fun in a safe and loving environment. Our after-school program is led by Catherine Sampietro. Catherine has been at The Academy for over thirty years, and our students call her “Mama”. The Academy offers a variety of extracurricular activities after school. These activities vary from semester to semester. Examples include art studio, math, chorus, chess, and private piano lessons.

Hours

Daycare is offered Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (2:20 – 6:00 p.m. on Fridays). Each child is provided with an afternoon snack and milk. Daycare is offered from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during extended holiday breaks.

Daycare Fees

Pre-purchased plans vary from $9-12 per hour, depending on the amount of hours purchased.

Drop-in daycare is billed at $12 per hour.

Academy Summer Programs

The Academy School - Summer 2023

Summer is just around the corner, and we’re excited to bring back summer camps. Familiar Instructors will offer a variety of workshops to Rising Kindergarten through 6th Grade. Camps will be offered to Academy Families First (including non-Academy siblings), then offered to Non-Academy families later. Instructors often take advantage of the nice weather, taking their campers on walks around the neighborhood, to the parks, and library. Campers will receive a limited edition Academy summer camp t-shirt and Pizza lunch every Thursday!

$450 for 1/2 days

Mixed Media Camp with Catherine Sampietro // M – Th 9am-12pm // Sessions 1 & 2
This camp will offer mixed media art instruction such as stitching/sewing, painting, recycled art, guided drawing and a variety of visual crafts.
 
Jewelry Making // M – Th 9am-12pm // Sessions 1 & 2
Manipulate nature’s elements with Mr. Latham! Campers will work in wood, leather, and metal to produce their choice of rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, talismans, charms, and more. Learn how to operate new tools and use them to make physical art pieces that inspire and satisfy. There will be room for beginners to find their footing and for experts to forge their own path. Students will participate in small workshops in addition to working on their final creation during shop time. I’m looking forward to seeing what you all produce!
 
Summer Skills Camps with Ms. Simms // M – Th 9am-12pm // Session 1 ONLY
Summer is the perfect time for students to catch up, get ahead, and reinforce academic skills! This program will focus on reading and math skills through small groups, one-on-one teaching, games, hands on activities, and fun learning centers.  This program will allow your child the chance to review foundational skills in order 
to prepare for the next grade level, accelerate, or catch up with learning. Available to entering 1st, 2nd,  3rd graders.
 
Dance with Phylicia Stroud // M – Th 12:30pm-3:30pm // Sessions 1 & 2
It’s time to get up and move! Ms. Phylicia, an experienced dance teacher, is excited to bring her love of all things dance to our students. They will learn from a number of styles and most importantly, have fun moving their bodies!
 
Team Games with Mr. Ian and Mr. Latham // M – Th 12:30pm-3:30pm // Sessions 1 & 2
Hockey, PickleBall, Basketball, Soccer and more! Kids will enjoy moving their bodies during team sports. 
 
Mandarin and Games with Ms. Cenzatti // M- Th 12 -3pm // Session 2 ONLY
We will focus on the four aspects of language: listening, speaking, reading and writing Mandarin through fun games in an immersive environment.
