Jenna Salmon also teaches Science in our Lower School.
A scientific education is built upon the joys and satisfactions of questioning, discovering and understanding. The upper school students learn to work and act as scientists do: they will observe, explore, experiment, hypothesize, model, analyze, and critique like a scientist. Sixth graders focus on a comprehensive study of human biology, where seventh and eighth graders focus on the forces and events that shape our planet. Throughout the year, students use scientific inquiry to help build their understanding. They design investigations using controlled experiments – gathering data and constructing a hypothesis supported by evidence. They will write and report their scientific investigations, presenting their information through formal and informal presentations.
